Is this the right thing for me?
Most people who come to us are not in crisis. They are tired. Something has been going on for a while, a few months or a few years, and it has started showing up in how they sleep, how they work, and how they are with the people they love.
You might be here because:
- You have been anxious long enough that it feels like your normal
- Something happened and you have not been the same since
- You are going through a big change, a move, a loss, a divorce, a new job
- You keep having the same fight, or the same thought, and cannot get out of it
- Someone who cares about you suggested it
You do not need a diagnosis to start. You do not need to know what to call it. You need an hour.
What a session is actually like
Sixty minutes, in a private room at our Tempe office or by video from anywhere in Arizona.
350 x 200 · real photo, no stock
The first session is mostly you talking and your therapist listening. They will ask what brought you in, what you have already tried, and what you would want to be different. By the end you will have a sense of whether the two of you fit. If you do not, we will help you find someone who does. That happens, and it is not a failure.
After that, most people come weekly at first and less often as things settle.
How we work
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Working with the thoughts that show up before a feeling does, and testing whether they hold.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Practical skills for when emotion arrives faster than you can think.
Trauma-informed therapy
Going at your pace, with nothing approached before you are ready for it.
Couples therapy
Both people in the room, working on the pattern rather than on who is right.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Starting from what already works and doing more of it.
There is no house method that everyone gets. Your therapist will talk with you about what is likely to help, and change course if it is not working.

Sliding scale
We offer sliding-scale rates for patients experiencing financial hardship. Eligibility and the reduced rate are worked out case by case, based on your circumstances. Call and ask; you do not need to explain yourself in writing first.
AHCCCS
PATH is an enrolled AHCCCS provider. If you are on AHCCCS fee-for-service without a health plan, or you are with the American Indian Health Program, Tribal ALTCS or a Tribal RBHA, we can see you now. If you are in an AHCCCS Complete Care plan, our contract with that particular plan may not be active yet, so we check your plan by name on the intake call and tell you before you book. Bring your AHCCCS ID either way.
Out-of-network
We can provide a superbill on request, which you may submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Whether you are reimbursed, and how much, depends on your own benefits and is not guaranteed.
Good Faith Estimate
If you are paying yourself or using out-of-network benefits, you will receive a written Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before your first appointment. That is your right under federal law.
Cancellations
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancelling with less than 24 hours' notice, or not showing up at all, is a $100 fee. You also get a 15-minute grace period: if you have not arrived or joined by then, your clinician may mark it a no-show. Emergencies and genuinely unusual circumstances are handled case by case.
