Therapy and psychiatric care by video, anywhere in Arizona
If you live in Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott, Yuma or anywhere else in Arizona, PATH can see you by video: therapy, psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits with Arizona-licensed clinicians, at the same rates as in person. The one requirement is that you are physically in Arizona at the time of the visit.
15 minutes by video. No commitment.
Call during office hours and a real person answers. Book online and pick your own time.

Where in Arizona we can see you
Anywhere in the state. The rule that matters is a licensing rule: our clinicians are licensed in Arizona, so the license covers where you are sitting during the visit, not where you live. Someone in Tucson, Sierra Vista, Flagstaff, Prescott, Yuma, Lake Havasu City, Kingman or Show Low is in exactly the same position as someone in Tempe. Someone who is out of state on the day of the appointment would need to reschedule.
What a video visit asks of you:
- A phone, tablet or computer with a camera. A phone is fine, and it is what most people use.
- An internet connection good enough for video. If it drops, your clinician calls your phone and you finish the session that way.
- Somewhere you can speak without being overheard. A parked car works better than it sounds, and headphones do most of the work.
- To be in Arizona at the time of the appointment.
You get a link before your appointment. There is nothing to install and no account to create, and the first time it is worth opening the link a few minutes early so the browser can ask for camera and microphone permission before the hour starts. Sessions are not recorded.
What can be done by video, and what brings you to Tempe
Most of what PATH does works by video from anywhere in the state. Two programs and a handful of specific visits do not.
By video, statewide
- Individual therapy, 60 minutes with the same therapist each time, weekly at first.
- Couples therapy, if both of you are physically in Arizona for the session.
- Psychiatric evaluations, the full 60-minute appointment with our board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, and the medication management follow-ups after it, usually 20 to 30 minutes.
- The free 15-minute consultation with our front desk, which is always by video.
At the Tempe office only
- The Intensive Outpatient Program and the Partial Hospitalization Program, which meet in person in Tempe. For someone outside the Phoenix area these are a daily commitment, and the free consultation is the place to talk through whether they fit.
- Group therapy, which meets in person.
- Any visit your clinician decides must happen in person. Some medication decisions and some parts of trauma therapy are made in the room. If you live hours from Tempe, your clinician tells you well ahead of time so the trip can be planned, or tells you plainly that a program closer to home would serve you better.
If a video session is not working for you, say so. Your clinician would rather hear it in the second week than the tenth, and the office is there for anyone who can reach it.
Who we see across Arizona
Adults 18 and over, anywhere in the state. PATH does not see children or teenagers.
By video we see the same concerns we see in the office: anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, OCD, grief, postpartum changes, and the evaluations that answer whether adult ADHD or bipolar disorder explains a long pattern. The psychiatric evaluations by video are the same hour with the same clinician as in person. If yours needs to see you in the room before deciding something, they will say so.
Video matters most where the nearest psychiatric appointment is a long drive or a long wait. A full evaluation from your own kitchen table, usually within three to five business days, with follow-ups by video afterwards, is the service this page exists for.
Insurance and cost by video
We accept Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health and Curative for individual therapy, couples therapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Most plans cover a video visit on the same terms as an office visit, and we confirm it for yours on the consultation. You pay your plan's normal copay or coinsurance.
Paying yourself, video costs exactly what the office costs: no telehealth rate, no platform fee and no surcharge. Every price is on the insurance and pricing page, with a sliding scale for financial hardship. With another plan, you pay our rate and we give you a superbill after each session, and your plan may pay you back for part of it. How out-of-network benefits work.
The free 15-minute consultation is itself a video visit, so it doubles as a test of your connection and your quiet spot. You pick the time online, and nothing about it commits you to anything.

Do I ever have to come to Tempe?
Not for therapy, couples therapy, a psychiatric evaluation or most medication follow-ups. The IOP, the PHP and group therapy meet in person, and your clinician may ask for a specific visit in the room; if so, they tell you which one and why, with time to plan the trip.
Can I use Aetna if I live in Tucson?
Yes. We accept Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health and Curative for individual therapy, couples therapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Most plans cover video visits on the same terms as office visits, and we check your coverage on the free consultation.
What if I am out of state on the day?
We would need to reschedule. Your clinician is licensed in Arizona, and you have to be in Arizona for the appointment, wherever you usually live.
Is a video evaluation the same as one in the office?
It is the same hour with the same board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, and for most people it is enough. In the room a clinician reads some things a camera carries poorly, so if yours needs to see you in person before deciding something, they will say so and we will book it.
Does video cost less?
No, and it does not cost more. Same rate as in person, and the same copay or coinsurance if you are using one of the four plans.
Same hour, same clinician, from anywhere in the state.
A free 15-minute video consultation at a time you pick, a short call to match you with the right clinician, and a confirmed date on the calendar. You will know what it costs before you commit to anything.
