Getting here from Scottsdale

Scottsdale Road runs south out of Old Town, crosses the Salt River and becomes Rural Road the moment it enters Tempe. Stay on it past the university and turn right on Broadway Road; our office is just west of the corner, at 605 East Broadway Road. From Old Town that is about eight miles, 15 to 20 minutes outside of rush hour. South Scottsdale, around McDowell and McKellips, is closer still. North Scottsdale, Shea Boulevard and the Airpark are 20 miles or more, which is where video earns its keep.

Routes from Scottsdale:

  • From Old Town and south Scottsdale: Scottsdale Road south, which becomes Rural Road in Tempe, then west on Broadway Road.
  • From central Scottsdale, near Indian School or Shea: Hayden Road south, which becomes McClintock Drive in Tempe, then west on Broadway Road for about a mile.
  • From north Scottsdale and the Airpark: Loop 101 south through Tempe to the Broadway Road exit, then west on Broadway Road for about two miles.

There is free parking on site, including accessible spaces, and the entrance is step-free with an automatic door.

Video from Scottsdale, or the office in Tempe

The license covers where you are sitting, not where you live, so anywhere in Scottsdale counts as Arizona and every video service is open to you. What follows is the split between the screen and the room.

By video, from Scottsdale

  • Weekly therapy, 60 minutes, the same therapist each time. Video and office visits are interchangeable, so a week you cannot get across the river can be a video week.
  • Couples therapy, when both of you are in Arizona at the time of the session.
  • A full psychiatric evaluation, 60 minutes, and most of the medication management follow-ups after it.
  • The free 15-minute consultation, which is how everyone starts.

In person in Tempe

  • The Intensive Outpatient Program and the Partial Hospitalization Program, which meet in person at the Tempe office; the IOP runs three hours a day, three days a week.
  • Group therapy, in one of our two group rooms.
  • Any visit your clinician asks to do in the room. Some medication decisions and some parts of trauma therapy are made in person, and you will be told which before it is booked.

One sensible pattern is a first visit in person, to see the building and sit across from your clinician once, and video from then on. The reverse is just as fine, and you can change at any point.

Who we see from Scottsdale

Adults 18 and over, living anywhere from the McDowell Mountains down to the Tempe line. We do not treat children or adolescents.

The reasons people in Scottsdale call us are the reasons people call us from anywhere: anxiety and panic, depression, trauma and PTSD, OCD, grief, the postpartum year, and the long-running question of adult ADHD or bipolar disorder. Our clinicians are licensed in Arizona, and the psychiatric evaluations are done by a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner.

What PATH offers Scottsdale that is worth the eight miles, or the video link, is one practice where therapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management sit under the same roof, with the same four plans accepted for all of them, and a free consultation before anything costs anything.

Insurance and cost from Scottsdale

The four plans we accept, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health and Curative, cover individual therapy, couples therapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. If your card mentions Carelon, we accept your plan through them.

Paying yourself: every price is on the insurance and pricing page, the same by video as in person, with no telehealth surcharge and a sliding scale for financial hardship. Other plans: you pay our rate, we hand you a superbill after each session, and your plan may pay you back for part of it. How that works, in four steps.

Before any of that, there is the free 15-minute video consultation with our front desk. You pick the time, you ask about cost and next steps, and you decide afterwards.

Questions from Scottsdale

Do I have to drive to Tempe?

No. Everything except the day programs and group therapy can be done by video from Scottsdale, and the free consultation is always by video. The office is about eight miles from Old Town when you want it.

Can I use Cigna if I live in Scottsdale?

Yes. Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health and Curative are accepted for individual therapy, couples therapy, psychiatric evaluations and medication management, by video or at the office. You pay your plan's normal copay or coinsurance, and we check your coverage on the consultation.

Is the office easy to get to from north Scottsdale?

It is a 35 to 45 minute drive from the Airpark or Shea Boulevard outside of rush hour, by Loop 101 south to Broadway Road. Most visits can be by video, so the drive is a choice rather than a requirement.

How soon can I be seen?

Usually within three to five business days, for therapy and for a psychiatric evaluation. You get a real date on the free consultation.

Do you see teenagers?

No. PATH sees adults 18 and over, in Arizona.

Straight down Scottsdale Road, or on your screen.
