How you start
Medication management is a follow-up service. It begins after a psychiatric evaluation, because nobody here will manage a treatment they have not assessed. If you have never been seen at PATH, the first appointment you book is the evaluation, not this.
If you are already established with a prescriber elsewhere and want to transfer your care here, say so on the intake call. You will still need an evaluation, but bringing your records and a current list of what you take makes that appointment shorter and more useful.
If you are a current patient, book through the client portal rather than starting over here. It reaches your own prescriber directly.
What happens in the appointment
These are short appointments with a clear job. Your prescriber asks how the last stretch has gone and works through the things that actually indicate whether a treatment is doing its job:
- How you have been sleeping, and whether that changed
- Your appetite, your energy, and your concentration
- Side effects, including the ones people find awkward to bring up
- Whether you have been taking it as prescribed, honestly, without a lecture attached
- What has been happening in your life that might explain a change better than the medication does
You will be told what is being considered and why before anything changes. If a change is made, you will know what to watch for and when to check back in.

How often you come in
More often at the start, less often once things are steady. A typical pattern is every two to four weeks while something is being adjusted, moving to every one to three months once it is working. That is a pattern, not a rule, and it is set with you rather than for you.
Follow-ups can be by video anywhere in Arizona. Some visits need to be in person, and your prescriber will tell you plainly when that is the case rather than leaving you to guess.

Sliding scale
We offer sliding-scale rates for patients experiencing financial hardship. Eligibility and the reduced rate are worked out case by case, based on your circumstances. Call and ask; you do not need to explain yourself in writing first.
AHCCCS
PATH is an enrolled AHCCCS provider. If you are on AHCCCS fee-for-service without a health plan, or you are with the American Indian Health Program, Tribal ALTCS or a Tribal RBHA, we can see you now. If you are in an AHCCCS Complete Care plan, our contract with that particular plan may not be active yet, so we check your plan by name on the intake call and tell you before you book. Bring your AHCCCS ID either way.
Out-of-network
We can provide a superbill on request, which you may submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Whether you are reimbursed, and how much, depends on your own benefits and is not guaranteed.
Good Faith Estimate
If you are paying yourself or using out-of-network benefits, you will receive a written Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before your first appointment. That is your right under federal law.
Cancellations
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancelling with less than 24 hours' notice, or not showing up at all, is a $100 fee. You also get a 15-minute grace period: if you have not arrived or joined by then, your clinician may mark it a no-show. Emergencies and genuinely unusual circumstances are handled case by case.
